Recent History

Our game begins in the year 1211 RE (Regnal Era); the RE beginning with the revelation of the Redwood Throne. Before this time came the Truce Era (TE), wherein the world recovered from the Great War, which lasted for nearly 3000 years. Prior to that, the First Age, or Lithini Etos (LE or Stone Era), spanned some 5000 years or more, ending with the death of the Most Foul at Marath Suvla. A number of notable events have occurred in recent years which are common knowledge. It is reasonable that any PC would have some knowledge, or at least have heard of, any of the events below. Further, a PC may choose to have participated in many of the events listed below, with plot approval.

PC participation in Historical Events

In order to claim a role in a historical event, click the relevant link and read through the available roles (Usually shown as 'a warrior of Gaunt1', 'the guild historian 2', etc). You should then submit your role request to plot for approval, with some indication of how this works into your overall character history. Roles are available on a first come, first served basis, and will not be approved without at least a character name and draft history. PCs may claim a role in more than one event; the button cost is 0 for the first, 5 for the second, and 10 for the 3rd. When a role has been claimed, the page will be updated with the character name of the PC in the space where PC role1 had formerly been. You may, however, have been present at various historical events without claiming a named role; you must, however, mention these in your character history for plot approval.

As the game goes on, notable events elsewhere in the world will be added to this page. Players joining later in the campaign may claim roles in these or fill available slots in older events at the button costs listed above. A new posting or new names being filled in in events will usually be accompanied by a post on the Rule of Three Forums, and also be available on the Updates page.

Some roles in various historical events are implied, or not associated with a specific name for one reason or another. These roles are also open, please contact plot to inquire. A + beside any number indicates that more than one person of this type (the General's Guards1+, a number of scholars4+ ) are available, and may be claimed thusly by more than one PC-- good if you want to be part of a group on the sidelines of an event. Lastly, gendered pronouns for various roles are included for convienience only, and should not be considered a barrier to claiming a role.

Returned and Celestial players may take roles in events which take place after the Day of Legend, in 1211. Returned players may likewise claim roles in the Folklore and Fables of the era; as a way for modern folks to know their names, and also some of the remarkable and fantastic stories associated with them. These stories are a part of the Codex of Dust.

Celestial players can also claim roles Heaven's historical events, which are housed on the Celestial Forum of the Dust to Dust Board. A player may only get access to this forum after comitting to play a Celestial PC. The text of these events are considered part of the Celestial Culture Packet, and may not be shared with non-Celestial players. You may email [email protected] for more information.
