  • Part two of two part update! Hooray!

    • Part one of two part update! Still have a lot of stuff to fix and add, but this should be the sum total of Rules updates.

    • Rulebook Edits:
      • Chapter 4: Magical Talents
        • Added "voice" to the list of effect delivery types Counter Magic can counter. This is not a change, just a correction in the text.
      • Chapter 8: Brewing and Alchemy
        • Added rules for determining the cost to copy brewing and alchemy formulas that have variable PP or MU cost.
      • Chapter 9: Inscription and Binding Contracts
        • Warding Glyphs require Inscription 1 to apply.
      • Chapter 10: Smithing, Security and Forge Magic
        • Added door bars to the list of security items that require maintenance, as well as rules for maintaining them.
      • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
        • Corrected the text of Armory of Bone to indicate that it can be used twice per day for free, and additional uses cost 1 Fatigue per use.
      • Chapter 17: Effect Lists
        • Changed the Consume effect to use a countdown, and clarified the effect’s interaction with Already Consumed targets.
        • Removed the clause in the description of the Bands effect that allowed a character with a Strength effect to break another person out of a Bands effect.

    • All main pages should have the new includes now. Hooray! Also, fixed the character encoding bug. If you see any errors (not counting the Ancient Tales pages, which I know still need updating), please let me know by emailing the plot address: d2d@ruleof3.net. Thanks!
    • Contact us emails updated to ruleof3.net. All references to Red Button should now be changed to Rule of Three except for those in .pdf documents; any errors should be reported to me.
    • Added new photos from events to various pages around the site, by "Classic" Bill Pequingot (Credit where credit is due). I'll remind that no player names have been associated with any of the IP photos. If you see a picture of you and would prefer it be pulled, email plot, and I shall make it so.
    • images of Redwood Throne coins added to Materials and Monies page.
    • Added LARP Jargon page to the rules section of the website; also added an inline link in the FAQ. DtD specific glossary is in the works.
    • Rulebook Edits:
      • Chapter 8: Brewing and Alchemy
        • Changed the Skin 4 formulation from Fluid and Flesh to Fluid and Earth.
      • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
        • Overhauled much of Ancient Arts, particularly the Wiseman path. Few, if any, powers currently possessed by players were changed. All Returned players are permitted a respend of their Ancient Arts at this time, at their option. The Ancient Arts pages of the website will be updated soon to reflect these changes.
      • Chapter 17: Effects List
        • Added the Healing Ways questions to the Sense Health effect.

    • Updated to add feast registration for April to the events page. Sign up! Have noms! And if you intend to pay on site, please let us know as soon as possible, so that the feast coordinators can be prepared. Also, please include your character name in the notes to seller portion of the paypal form. Thanks!

    • Major edits to navigation on almost every page. Setting navigation now shows and hides on-click. Still have more work to do with getting all the templates working, which is what's been taking so long, and why there haven't been updates for the past month. We apologise!
    • Paypal images on Events page are fixed. Thanks Todd!
    • If you have requested a role in a Historical Event or Ancient Tale that has not yet been updated, please email and let us know! I have probably lost track in the reorganization. There are a couple of you who have things in the works, but I want to make sure I haven't missed anyone. Thank you!
    • There is a known issue on several pages where the encoding in the top navigation is showing odd symbols. We're still investigating this, and will try to get it fixed soon.
    • Rulebook Edits:
      • Chapter 6: Weapons, Armor, Warrior Orders, and Combat Skills
        • Changed the CP cost of Crossbows from 6 CP to 8 CP. Characters who already possess the Crossbow skill do not pay any additional cost. The cost of Missile Mastery is unchanged.
        • Added the Aim option to crossbows.
        • Added the ability to wear Helmets to Shieldeaters.
      • Chapter 10: Smithing, Security and Forge Magic
        • Changed the effect of Touch of the Realms from a Spellstrike Dart to a Charged Weapon effect.
        • Clarified the function of durations in Forge Magic. If an item has a Lesser enchantment and a Greater enchantment, and the duration runs out on the Lesser enchantment, the Greater enchantment cannot be activated.
      • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
        • Corrected the Ancient Art Lockdown, so that imbuing Ice Silence into a focus grants either Ice Entangle or Ice Stasis.
      • Chapter 17: Effects List
        • Added a duration to the Stasis effect.

        • Changed Master Wounding Blows to no longer divide between Melee and Missile Master Wounding Blows – that is, Master Wounding Blows apply to melee and missile weapons alike.
      • Chapter 9: Inscription and Binding Contracts
        • Dueling rituals cost 1 PP and 1 MU to copy.
      • Chapter 12: Magic of the Humans
        • Changed the Ebon Aspect mystery Tundra Hide to Type: Enchantment (Reduce), Duration: Until Used/Dusk, and Casting Time: 1 minute.
      • Chapter 16: General Rules for Play
        • Clarified that Buttons cannot be used to purchase Binding Contracts, items that require rare components to create, ritual formulas, or production formulas. Buttons may be used to copy ritual or production formulas that you already possess.
      • Appendix 5: Skill Costs At A Glance
        • Fixed the cost of Medium.

    • Updated Events page and index with link to the brand spankin' new Full Time NPC Pre-Registration Forms! This is to help us maybe get a better idea of who and how many full-time NPCs we might have at a given event. Let's see how it goes!

    • Fixed incorrect geographical reference on the Tharicia: The Land page.

        • The spell Twisted Light now gives its target the Shadow Creature descriptor for the duration of the effect.
      • Chapter 13:
        • The Ancient Art known as Hounded gives the character the Shadow Creature descriptor as long as the character is in Shadow Form.
      • Chapter 17:
        • Changed the Form effect to be affected by all Realm- or Form-based weapon swings other than the Form’s own Source, and noted that Forms do not protect characters from Arcane effects.
        • Clarified the text of the Meld effect slightly.
