Persephone's Fall
Persephone's Fall is the tale of a transformative personal journey through the Underworld
Ancient and contemporary forms intersect as the dancers create and inhabit a dark, visionary landscape of shifting identities and emotional snares. Choreographer Kristyn McGeehan draws no hard lines, instead allowing the performers to flow from character to scenic element to visual chorus. The story is not the traditional kidnapping tale but an exploration of the heroine’s passionate quest for personal agency and selfhood as she attempts to break free of comforting but stifling love. Local artist Jason Gray’s expressive masks help set the scene, while the haunting music of The Ghosts Project creates a mood that is simultaneously eerie, questioning, and hopeful.
