We know that. So today I’m giving you a little website update with just a sprinkle of Arc 2 excitement. You probably already know about the new settlement pages we’ve shown thus far, but if you don’t then here’s a link where you can branch off to any of the three we’ve talked about so far: http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/setting/planet-eclipse/

But that’s not what I want to show you today. Today, we’ve got a new page for Martial Disciplines and if you read closely enough, you might just notice some changes in the way we’re doing accessibility for these now. http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/setting/martial-disciplines/

And the bottom of the Psionics page has gotten a little brush up as well: http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/setting/psionics/

So cheer up, Monday! And if you just can’t, well… it’s only two days until the next Arc 2 reveal.

Minor note: to reflect the new marketing materials, the homepage has been updated. http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/

Special Rules for the Weapons Platform http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/special-rules-for-the-weapons-platform/ http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/special-rules-for-the-weapons-platform/#comments Tue, 14 May 2013 17:50:43 +0000 http://eclipselarp.com/?p=992 ]]> The coming 4 day event in May takes place in-play at Station Prime on Eclipse. Located in Station Prime is an area called the Weapons Platform. The Weapons Platform has specially modified gravity that affects the area in some unusual ways.

This post outlines the special rules that will apply to the Weapons Platform area, so that players can familiarize themselves with them well in advance.

Thanks!

MODIFIED GRAVITY ENVIRONMENT: In order to support the weight of the weapons systems, the entire weapons platform has a reduced gravity field.

RULES FOR MODIFIED GRAVITY ENVIRONMENT:

Any of the following may be EXPENDED to employ a Jump effect:

  • Any Strength effect
  • Any Cybernetic Leg power
  • A Psionic Repel effect

Leap effects can be used as normal. Note that Leaps are NOT required to be in a straight line, and during a Leap, a player must cross their arms or weapons over their heads. During a Leap, a players CANNOT make any form of attack, and CANNOT be the target of any form of attack.

Throwing: Any Strength effect or Psionic Repel effect can be EXPENDED to grant a Jump to a willing, consenting target within Touch range.

Carrying: If a character EXPENDS an additional Strength effect, they can carry ONE additional player along on a Jump

Modified-Gravity Jump: the player must call out “Jumping” once every two seconds during the Jump. They may then take up to ten steps, even if it is across an area with no “floor” in play. A character may not be hit by any melee or point effect while they are Jumping. A character may not make any melee or point attacks or use any powers or maneuvers while they are Jumping. At the end of a Jump, players must call “Landing” very loudly and clearly to convey that they are on a platform and can fight in melee normally.

Ricochet: A player can initiate another Jump immediately after another Jump as long as they conclude their first Jump on a legal landing platform, or if they conclude their first Jump against a vertical surface, such as a wall or tree.

Special role-playing detail: A Jump should be in a straight line. Players should still veer to avoid collisions with other players, but, when possible, should stick to the spirit of this rule. A character should maintain forward momentum. If a player stops moving during a Jump, they are considered to have landed, and if they are not above stable ground, they will fall down to the Landing Platform.

Falling: If any player steps off of a porch or platform, they fall out of control to the ground below. The player should go out of play and proceed immediately to the Landing Platform. The location of the Landing Platform will be announced on site. Fortunately, the low gravity means they do not sustain injury from the fall.

A person is considered to have stepped off of a porch or platform if they place both feet on “unsafe” ground, or if they bear weight on one foot on “unsafe” ground. People will be expected to referee themselves on this rule.

STATIONARY PERSONNEL ACCESS PLATFORMS:
Any rectangle defined by PVC pipe represents a Stationary Personnel Access Platform. These are safe to stand on. However, they cannot be moved.

PORTABLE GRAY ENERGY PLATFORMS:
Grey foam squares represent platforms crackling with force shield energy (moveable jumping platforms). They can be held and moved by anyone, however, a single person cannot hold two or more at a time. If they attempt to do so, even for an instant, the platforms will react negatively to one another, causing the person to drop both platforms and suffer a WOUND to each arm (this bypasses armor, skins, toughness, and everything else).

The Portable Gray Energy Platforms are made of Archeotech Force Field energy, and can be used like a shield to absorb all missile attacks. However, a melee attack that strikes a held Jumping Platform will cause the target to fling the Jumping Platform away, and automatically cause a wound to the arm.

If placed on the ground, the Portable Gray Energy Platforms will hover and be considered safe to stand on. In this way, they can be used as “jumpy stones” that can be repositioned.

PERSONNEL RECHARGE STATIONS: These are Archeotech devices that only work in the weapons platform, and cannot be removed from the weapons platform. They are portable gray boxes with bio-booster clips inside.

A Med Tech can use these devices to temporarily bolster a subject’s physical strength. The Med Tech must touch the subject with the bio booster clips and spend one minute “charging them up.”

  • 60 SECONDS, MED TECH LEVEL 1-2: GRANT A NATURAL STRENGTH EFFECT TO THE SUBJECT
  • 60 SECONDS, MED TECH LEVEL 3-4: GRANT A NATURAL STRENGTH EFFECT TO THE SUBJECT, AND REFRESH ALL OF THEIR CONSUMER GRADE CYBERNETICS
  • 60 SECONDS, MED TECH LEVEL 5: OR HIGHER GRANT A NATURAL STRENGTH EFFECT TO THE SUBJECT, AND REFRESH ALL OF THEIR CONSUMER GRADE AND COMMERCIAL GRADE CYBERNETICS

THE WEAPON RELAY SWITCHES: These are phys-repped by gray boxes with switches inside. If the switch is in the red, then the safety is off, and the weapon systems can be fired. Only a Weapon Tech or Mech Tech can manipulate or interact with these switches.

THE WEAPON TARGETING AND TRIGGER PANEL: This is phys-repped by a gray box with a big red button inside. Only a Weapon Tech or Mech Tech can manipulate or interact with these devices.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES:

Please use caution if placing and using The Portable Gray Energy Platforms (gray foam squares.) If they are on a hillside covered with pine straw, they could potentially slip forward if someone took an enthusiastic long jump.

Please use courtesy when Jumping and Landing. If a character (PC or NPC) is Jumping or Leaping onto an occupied platform, players should make room for them to Land, or allow them to pass by and land somewhere on the platform. In other words, a player should never try to bodily block a player who is Jumping or Leaping.

It is very important to keep in mind that Falling, in this case, only leads to relocation on the battlefield. If there is ever a question of whether to perform a questionable maneuver (in terms of OOP safety) or to simply take the fall, players should simply take the fall.

Special Rules for the Shields Platform http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/special-rules-for-the-shields-platform/ http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/special-rules-for-the-shields-platform/#comments Tue, 14 May 2013 17:43:33 +0000 http://ruleof3.net/eclipse/?p=989 ]]> The coming 4 day event in May takes place in-play at Station Prime on Eclipse. Located in Station Prime is an area called the Shields Platform. The Shields Platform has specially modified Force Field generators that affect the area in some unusual ways.

This post outlines the special rules that will apply to the Shields Platform area, so that players can familiarize themselves with them well in advance.

Thanks!

RULES FOR FIGHTING IN THE SHIELD PLATFORM:

SHIELD CONTROL ARRAYS: There are two Shield Control Arrays represented by gray boxes with circuit boards in them. These are also what is providing a protective force field to two distant colonies on Prime. Any Armor Tech, Energy Tech, or Mech Tech can call a Voice Effect Shield if they take the time to switch the places of any two screws on the circuit board. The Shield only affects allies.

Reminder of the Shield effect:
Shield: This effect creates an invisible protective barrier around the target. This barrier protects the character from the first physical/natural attack to strike him, no matter how great the damage. This will not stop the effects of a point delivered effect or area of effect damage. Only one Shield effect may be active on a character at a time. Shields are always affected before Armor, Skins, or Toughness.

It is possible that other effects could be achieved by tweaking these control arrays in different ways.

These Shield Control Arrays could be destroyed if they suffered enough punishment.

PRIMARY SHIELD CONTROL: The Primary Shield Control Core is represented by the grill on the back porch of the lodge. The Primary Shield Control Core could be damaged, controlled, or compromised if a hostile had enough time to spend on it.

ORANGE ENERGIZED FORCE FIELD FIBER STRIPS: While preparing for the battle, you will be able to create force barriers out of a special Orange Energized Force Field Fiber (rep’d by Orange construction marking tape). An Armor Tech or Energy Tech can do this by tying three strips (high, middle, low) between two vertical objects (trees or posts or whatever).
These barriers will stop a person or machine from passing through them, or melee fighting through them. However, ranged attacks will still pass through them.
If something is attempting to destroy an Orange Energized Force Field Fiber Wall, it will need to destroy all three strips before the barrier is down.

Resources: It is currently estimated that the subroutine will be able to process between 6 and 10 spools of Orange Energized Force Field Fiber. As a point of reference, the amount of Force Field generated when you last visited the Shields Platform on your inspection was generated by 1 spool of Orange Energized Force Field Fiber.

EMPLACED AUTOMATIC WEAPONS: If you mount emplaced automatic weapons anywhere in the Shields Platform, they will not require a Power Pack to be used. They will be powered by the Shield Systems themselves. They will still require an ammo pack.
