  • Updated next event information, and menu for March Feast on events page.
  • Fixed bugs from various places around the site.
  • Rulebook Edits:
    • Chapter 3: Ads and Disads
      • Dead characters may remain with their bodies and interact with characters who have the Medium Advantage. Once they leave their bodies, they must acquire a Ghost Shroud or a green or yellow glow necklace for characters with the Medium Advantage to interact with them.
    • Chapter 6: Combat
      • The Displaced Hand ability Pinning Blow may now be used two (2) times at Intermediate Displaced Hand and three (3) times at Master.
      • The Lost Blades ability Slice now notes that it may not be combined with other Wounding Blows or Maneuvers, and does not count against the limit of three maneuvers of one type per battle.
      • The Sand Spire ability Skewer now notes that it does not count against the limit of three Wounding Blows per combat.
    • Chapter 9: Inscription and Binding Contracts
      • Added rules for copying legal documents, and documents that have no game effects.
    • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
      • Two references to a power “Blood Skull” have been corrected to Mysteries of the Ancestors.
    • Chapter 17: Effect Lists
      • Removed speaking from the list of things prevented by the Befuddle effect.

  • Added BGA form to the forms page. BGAs are open for two weeks starting tomorrow, so please get them in by 12/22/12!
  • Added new buttons for BGA form and NPC pre-reg form, courtesy of the fabulous Caitlin Holden!
  • Made a change that will help prevent data loss when filling out forms. Now, even if you accidentally close the browser tab, or your computer crashes, when you reload the page, form data should remain.
  • Added "reset form" buttons to all forms.
  • Added Old King Crow to the music page of the Codex

  • Historical Event and Ancient Tales Updates:
    • Added the Riots of New Aulesburg recent event. New players may request to have been present at this event, but there are no specific open roles. Tobias Kindle (John Maurer) and Willy Klein (Bill Pequignot) are known to have been present, among others.
    • Added Kasimir Ordina (John Morehead) to the Von Kreuyer Duel.
  • Rulebook Edits:
    • Chapter 2: Character Creation and Races
      • The name of the Lore Talent that celestials receive at character creation has changed from Lore: Celestials to Lore: Host of Heaven, to incorporate higher choirs and the Manse itself.
    • Chapter 3: Ads and Disads
      • Modified the text of the Pain Resistance Advantage and the Pain Intolerance Disadvantage.
      • Clarified the Disadvantage Intolerance to In-Game Materials to Intolerance to Mystic Materials, and listed all of the Mystic Materials that apply.
    • Chapter 6: Combat
      • Added a note that the Ultaf ability “Bonescraper” does not count against the rule of three.
      • Added a note that Blindside works on some non-humanoid creatures, not just humanoids.
      • Clarified the requirements of the Silver Swordsmen warrior order to reflect the fact that they can use Silver Tempered, Silver Coated, or Permanent Silver Swords for their order abilities.
    • Chapter 10: Smithing, Security and Forge Magic
      • Changed Silver Coating to use an event of duration only when the weapon is used in combat.
      • Overhauled the system for determining the number of lumps of silver ore required for a given weapon.
    • Chapter 11: Magic of the Celestials
      • Changed the duration of the Haven and Create Greater Illusion effects from 3 days to 5 days.
      • Corrected the mana cost for Rime of Preservation from 3 to 2.
    • Chapter 12: Magic of the Humans
      • Changed the maximum duration of Speak with Dead from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.
      • Changed the duration of the Haven effect from 3 days to 5 days.
    • Chapter 16: General Rules for Play
      • Changed the maximum duration of Speak with Dead from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.
      • Changed the duration of the Haven and Create Greater Illusion effects from 3 days to 5 days, to ensure that they cover the entirety of any four-day events.
      • Characters with two Limb Wounds no longer fall unconscious in 10 minutes and bleed to death 5 minutes after that. Having two Limb Wounds is now functionally the same as having a single Limb Wound but, you know, twice.
      • Clarified the rules on Fighting to Break a Shield.
    • Chapter 17: Effect Lists
      • “incapacitated and” from the Lethal effect to clarify its function.
      • Added text clarifying the list of things a character with a Stoic Body effect and a Torso Wound can do.
      • Changed the Shatter Spirit effect to the Shatter Soul effect and added a note that a character can only be affected by one Shatter Soul at a time.
      • Changed the Spirit Wrack effect to the Soul Wrack effect and added a note that a character can only be affected by one Soul Wrack at a time.
      • Added a note that a character can only be affected by one Deathweave at a time.

  • Added the games of Stones of the Wall and Siege Stones to the Games Page in the Codex of Dust
  • Changed the sidebar for the Contact Pages to be seperate from the Rules Pages.
  • Added a list of LARP links to the Contact portion of the site, and also linked it from the Codex of Dust. It is not currently comprehensive, so if you have suggestions for games and resources to which I should link, let me know, and I'll get 'em up!
  • Historical Event and Ancient Tales Updates:
    • Navigation for Ancient Tales pages updated!
    • A Dream of Fortune, the tale of Takar (Cory Juras) Added to Ancient Tales.
    • Returned who would like an Ancient Tale and have not selected one should send Rabbit something soon! You can either choose a role in an existing tale, or send me a traditional folktale you like, and I will edit it to fit the world. Unfortunately, I am not at this time able to write up stories from scratch (due to time constraints), but I will happily work with text that you give me. Thanks!

    • Chapter 2: Character Creation and Races
      • Added a clarifying note to the Returned that there is additional important information available on the Returned message board.
    • Chapter 6: Combat
      • Changed the advancement prerequisites for the Ultaf Way of the Marauder to require any Pierce or Break maneuvers, rather than Armor Pierce maneuvers only. Removed the requirement of one additional combat maneuver of any kind for Master level.
      • Changed the Shieldeater basic ability Strong Arm to grant either Strength (still scaling with rank) or Ignore Wound (limb only).
    • Chapter 10: Smithing, Security and Forge Magic
      • Changed all references to Dust Shatter in the Cursed Lock enchantment to Dust Break.
      • Corrected a lingering reference in the Touch of the Realms ability to Spellstrike rather than Charge Weapon.
    • Chapter 11: Magic of the Celestials
      • Corrected a typo in the Cloak of the Mind’s Eye verbal.
    • Chapter 12: Magic of the Humans
      • Changed the Lesser Mysteries verbal for the Unending Sky to “The sky is open before me,” as the previous verbal was more difficult to deliver clearly than we had intended.
    • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
      • Clarified the language of the Neglected Preservation Ancient Art to indicate that the hero Ignores the Weaken effect that normally results from Haste effects when using the Haste effects granted by this power.
    • Chapter 17: Effect Lists
      • Clarified the applications of the Sense (XXX) Ties, Sense Lesser Illusion, and Sense Illusion effects.
      • Changed the duration of Obscure to Dusk only, rather than Dusk and Dawn. Clarified the interaction of Obscure and the Sense Truth effect.
      • Clarified that Strength effects of the same kind or of different degrees (Troll/Giant/Mountain Strength) do not stack, and a character may not have more than one at a time.

      • Added "voice" to the list of effect delivery types Counter Magic can counter. This is not a change, just a correction in the text.
    • Chapter 8: Brewing and Alchemy
      • Added rules for determining the cost to copy brewing and alchemy formulas that have variable PP or MU cost.
    • Chapter 9: Inscription and Binding Contracts
      • Warding Glyphs require Inscription 1 to apply.
    • Chapter 10: Smithing, Security and Forge Magic
      • Added door bars to the list of security items that require maintenance, as well as rules for maintaining them.
    • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
      • Corrected the text of Armory of Bone to indicate that it can be used twice per day for free, and additional uses cost 1 Fatigue per use.
    • Chapter 17: Effect Lists
      • Changed the Consume effect to use a countdown, and clarified the effect’s interaction with Already Consumed targets.
      • Removed the clause in the description of the Bands effect that allowed a character with a Strength effect to break another person out of a Bands effect.

  • Contact us emails updated to ruleof3.net. All references to Red Button should now be changed to Rule of Three except for those in .pdf documents; any errors should be reported to me.
  • Added new photos from events to various pages around the site, by "Classic" Bill Pequingot (Credit where credit is due). I'll remind that no player names have been associated with any of the IP photos. If you see a picture of you and would prefer it be pulled, email plot, and I shall make it so.
  • images of Redwood Throne coins added to Materials and Monies page.
  • Added LARP Jargon page to the rules section of the website; also added an inline link in the FAQ. DtD specific glossary is in the works.
  • Rulebook Edits:
    • Chapter 8: Brewing and Alchemy
      • Changed the Skin 4 formulation from Fluid and Flesh to Fluid and Earth.
    • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
      • Overhauled much of Ancient Arts, particularly the Wiseman path. Few, if any, powers currently possessed by players were changed. All Returned players are permitted a respend of their Ancient Arts at this time, at their option. The Ancient Arts pages of the website will be updated soon to reflect these changes.
    • Chapter 17: Effects List
      • Added the Healing Ways questions to the Sense Health effect.

  • Major edits to navigation on almost every page. Setting navigation now shows and hides on-click. Still have more work to do with getting all the templates working, which is what's been taking so long, and why there haven't been updates for the past month. We apologise!
  • Paypal images on Events page are fixed. Thanks Todd!
  • If you have requested a role in a Historical Event or Ancient Tale that has not yet been updated, please email and let us know! I have probably lost track in the reorganization. There are a couple of you who have things in the works, but I want to make sure I haven't missed anyone. Thank you!
  • There is a known issue on several pages where the encoding in the top navigation is showing odd symbols. We're still investigating this, and will try to get it fixed soon.
  • Rulebook Edits:
    • Chapter 6: Weapons, Armor, Warrior Orders, and Combat Skills
      • Changed the CP cost of Crossbows from 6 CP to 8 CP. Characters who already possess the Crossbow skill do not pay any additional cost. The cost of Missile Mastery is unchanged.
      • Added the Aim option to crossbows.
      • Added the ability to wear Helmets to Shieldeaters.
    • Chapter 10: Smithing, Security and Forge Magic
      • Changed the effect of Touch of the Realms from a Spellstrike Dart to a Charged Weapon effect.
      • Clarified the function of durations in Forge Magic. If an item has a Lesser enchantment and a Greater enchantment, and the duration runs out on the Lesser enchantment, the Greater enchantment cannot be activated.
    • Chapter 13: Magic of the Returned
      • Corrected the Ancient Art Lockdown, so that imbuing Ice Silence into a focus grants either Ice Entangle or Ice Stasis.
    • Chapter 17: Effects List
      • Added a duration to the Stasis effect.
