Victory Day Festival in Morgan’s Landing
Morgan’s Landing held a festival, to honor those who fell fighting the Thinking Machines. It was also a celebration of life, and the growing community here on this fairly new world. The festival featured a ceremony honoring Bailiff George Malikai, who organized the defense, and fell during the battle. There were also ceremonies for 3 Midir who were responsible for saving a group of Imperials cut off during the fight, and the unknown soldiers who sacrificed their lives to defend the breaches in the ancient shields that helped Morgan’s Landing have a higher percentage of survivors than any other settlement during the battle.
Mithra Gul, a Dahhak councilwoman, delivered the closing remarks. “And now we look back on the largest battle in the history of our new planet. Two years ago, the free races of Eclipse defended Morgan’s Landing, as they defended all the surviving settlements. And we did it together. Together. That should have a new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it was fate that tore us all down, so we could rise us again together. We fought for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution. We fought to prevent our annihilation. We fought for our right to live. To exist. This day should not be known as a Morgan’s Landing holiday, but as the day all the races of Origo declared in one voice. “We will not go quietly into the night. We’re going to live. We’re going to survive and flourish. Today we celebrate our Victory day!”
