Modism takes the Library by force
KreeArchive

This is your friendly reporter from the Library, Kitty Barclay. I’m speaking about Modism. It’s something of a paradox. We can’t know what fashion is popular back in the old galaxy, but by envisioning it, we can create bold new fashions. You can go crazy just thinking about it – so instead let’s just say that the dawn of a new age has sent 164’s fashion trends into oldstyle overdrive.   So how do we define Modism? As a spring 164 fashion trend, it seems to be less about traditional wear, and more about redefining what it means to be classic. We’re faced with collections that contemplate wild revolutions in Imperial fashion. Topics of rebirth and going back compete in the threads of some designers clothing, while others base their designs on wild new visions of what could be. Just another reason why the Library is The fashion place to be. Downings is so 163, and you remember what a drag that was. So cheer up, and spice up your wardrobe with a little of the latest Modist trends, now available at the Library.   This is Kitty Barclay, signing off!

Atlanteans open embassy in Downings, and legendary party rocks the settlement
Downingsarticles

Downings media announced that the Atlanteans have opened an official embassy in Downings. While few expect Downings to suddenly become a principality of Atlantis, many are excited about the prospect of increased trade and closer ties to the natives of Eclipse. Trade representative Tom Rokos applauded the move. “This is just another sign that Downings epitomizes all the virtues of the fringe. Self-Reliance, a dedication to free trade, and frontier ingenuity. Coming after the successful negotiation of a free trade agreement with Elder’s Grove, this is a great day for Downings!”   Also in Downings, a legendary event turned the underground on it’s heels when a troupe of technicians from Gatetown started a party that just kept going. Even some of the party hardened veterans of Downings bowed out after the first three days. It seemed a vast discussion of super-theories of super-everything. Anything alchoholic within a half mile radius was reported to be consumed, and it is being said that half the techs in Downings still haven’t sobered up. It was seen as a coup for the colonist organizers, and DJ Skyler, who apparently dropped some devastating beats, and inspired new trends in music just based on his epic 32 hour performance, which picked up again once he woke up. Amazing.

Grand opening a great success
MorgansLanding_article

The Morgan’s Landing Community Center had it’s grand opening today, and it was an exciting one. Group activities, games for the kids, family friendly. There are not many places among the settlements that can boast of a cultural center like this one. Makes you remember that Morgan’s Landing is really just like a slice of the Origo Galaxy, right here on Eclipse. Imperials, Meurlain, Midir, Dahhak and others. Living together in peace and harmony. We interviewed Slax, local director for the Harmony-Nexus foundation. “This is a place for all people, humans and tribes, to come together in peace. We would like to thank our founder, and all of those who have worked so hard to bring this dream to life. Let us all enjoy this place, and celebrate our differences together.”

Protesters Call for End to Anti-Sundravite Violence
Compound_article

A protest rally was held calling for justice in the death of Xiat Da’axye, a Dahhak Sundravite that died at the hands of three Kshathran males in Gatetown about six months ago. The protesters, made up of both humans and Dahhak claim that the attack, as well as a bombing in the Compound by a Qua’Ri native is an indication of the growing anti-Dahhak and anti-Sundrav sentiment among the Kshathrans in Downings. Organizing the protest was Markus van Halcyon, relative to Giles Halcyon and member of the temple of Sundrav. Van Halcyon claims that the attacks are the acts of ‘cowards and hate-mongers’ and that the Kshathrans must be taken to task for the role that their society played in such brazen assaults. He claims that Sundravites all over Eclipse are afraid to openly worship, for fear of being attacked. Van Halcyon also denounced officials for allowing the Kshathran responsible for the bombing in the Compound to be remanded to the custody of Qua’Ri instead of having him tried in an Imperial court for crimes against its citizens. Aside from a few heated moments, the protest was conducted peacefully and was disbursed by Compound security forces without incident. Both Giles Halcyon and the Council of Qua’Ri declined to comment.

Caravan Attacked on Wolf’s Wood
whitefalls

Szygany move along the The Wolf’s Wood with caution as raiders have once again struck a band shortly after leaving White Falls for the Compound. The band was carrying much needed medical supplies after a number of cases of Thrast fever were discovered in the settlement. Thought the Compound insists that there is no danger of an outbreak, thanks to the previous efforts of Lord Jastor, the medicine is still needed urgently by clinics in the settlement. This marks the third time in 6 months that a Szygany caravan was targeted by a group of bandits, dubbed the ‘Numbers’ by many Szygany for the numbered tattoos described by surviving witnesses. Both Lord Jastor and representatives of the Compound urge Rangers to investigate the attacks, which to date have claimed the lives of eighteen Szygany. Jastor claims that the attacks are directed at him by individuals that want to discredit him in the eyes of the other settlements by sabotaging his humanitarian efforts. Jastor has also blamed Free Szgany terrorists for the attacks, however investigation shows that both free and bound Szygany were slain in the raids. Survivors of previous raids describe the assailants as well armed humanoids with numbers tattooed on their faces, displaying unusual strength and an ability to withstand conventional weapon fire. Many believe the raiders possess genetic mutations, but evidence thus far has been unable to confirm these conclusions. Both Free Szygany merchants and Lord Jastor have called for increased security in light of the recent attacks.
