Elder’s Grove Speaks
EGarticle

Maxwell Quintain, mayor of Elder’s Grove, and the head of the Elder’s Grove Defense Force, has recently given a press conference. In it, he showed proof of a plot originating in the Library. There had been a force called Forza, which was being hired and trained not only for the eventual suppression of House Kree, but also to be a secret force which destabilized other settlements. They were behind the recent assault on Elder’s Grove. Investigators have determined that the attack on the Meurlain was a cover to assassinate Mayor Green. Elder’s Grove spies have had vengeance on the one directly responsible, Wilhelm Bremmer, an aide to Juras Vinro. They have since found proof that Vinro himself has been behind the turbulence, and is responsible for a string of murder and mayhem. It was their plan to put the other settlements in place, murder the leaders of House Kree, and declare a new Empire. With Juras Vinro as it’s Emperor. Now, the evil scheme has been disrupted. Elder’s Grove is mustering forces, and has released an arrest warrant for Vinro, his close family, and associates. It declares the lawfulness of this action, and that anyone blocking this important act of law should also surrender, or face arrest or death. The men of Kotantown and Konjito stand ready to serve this warrant. The Yazata have resisted, and many claim that Elder Cypress is urging for caution and more facts. But action is imminent, as these vile perpetrators must be apprehended, at […]

News from Elder’s Grove
EGarticle

Elder’s Grove has been active lately, with life returning to normal after the recent assault. Signs of the attack have been cleaned up, for the most part, and life seems to be returning to normal. New Mayor Maxwell Quintain has issued verbal statements regarding potential war between the Compound and Downings. “We shall not be involved in this conflict between the Kshathrans and the Dahhak, unless we are forced to become involved. This bickering has spread to the Imperial and Fringe peoples, who are being forced to choose sides as the atrocities continue. We are calling on the Dahhak aggressors to back down, so that peaceful business may continue.” In other news, preparations for the upcoming Feast of Pleasure have spread to all quarters. Primarily a Meurlain celebration, the Yazata and Fringers waste no excuse for a good party. A number have embraced this tradition, and are being encouraged by New Mayor Maxwell Quintain. The Community Center, still closed for construction, should be opened in time. Mayoral aide Harlan Dobey made a statement. “The community center will be a place for peace. Where all people can gather, to learn and to grow.”

Mayhem in Konjito
EGarticle

An attack has struck Konjito, and different points in Elder’s Grove. At about 3am local time, on the same night that the New Arc Terminus was added in Omanganva, some number of attackers dressed in black assaulted Elder’s Grove. Reports vary from less than a dozen to over a hundred enemy soldiers, who stormed the outside gate leading into Konjito. They quickly overcame the guards, and struck into Konjito. Scores are reported dead or missing, hundreds are wounded. Explosives were used in a seemingly indiscriminate manner. No one is certain as to who the mysterious attackers were. Three bodies have been recovered, but if there was any information gleaned from the corpses, it has not yet been shared. Reports are still coming in, but we can confirm that Master Mei Lin and Mayor Green were among the deceased. There is a lot of fear here, in a community ravaged by the Adam plague, Thinking Machines, and the vagaries of Eclipse. And now this senseless assault. Many of the dead are from the Meurlain community, and they are seeking to understand who has attacked them. There are reports that psionics were ineffective against them, but fringers deny that any of their null mutants would have taken part in this horrific action. Some note that the Arc Terminus was connected with Atlantis around the time of the assault, but no concrete information has been announced. We will wait for more information before we act, but those who perpetrated this carnage should be […]

Yazata Tensions Escalate
EGarticle

The Yazata have been hotly debating a recently passed motion for over a week now. The measure gives sanction to a re-settlement plan, approved in the last days of the lame duck session, and carried by only two votes. A committee has been established to study the issue, and is authorized to make binding decisions. The committee is largely composed of Spores loyalists, who have great faith in their plan. The committee is studying several options. They have been considering establishing a new settlement near White Falls. Close enough to the road to establish trade, far enough from White Falls so as not to encroach on either settlements growth. The Spores have made the case that the recent rise in population justifies the expansion. There has been quite the quiet baby boom in the last few years, and by it’s nature Elder’s Grove cannot expand, unless someone wants to live outside the force fields. Even with those who have died in the last year, the population is increasing. The Vines favor slowly expanding outside the field, and keeping the community together. The committee is also considering creating a community in White Falls itself. There is certain infrastructure there, and a thriving market in energy tech, among other goods. Also, settling on a new continent will help to ensure the Yazata survive possible future catastrophes. The Vines have been heavily protesting this measure, which technically would continue into the new session. They vow measures to repeal the committee and it’s “unprecedented […]

Local news from EG
EGarticle

Tensions continue to mount in the Yazata community, over the last few weeks there have been 3 fires and a small riot, all connected to political disagreements. A vote of no confidence has passed, forcing the Yazata government to call for new elections in the next few months. The Vines are widely favored in the new elections, which threatens the small majority that the Spores previously had. Only 2 candidates are known to be running as Weeds, and polling indicates that neither is likely to be elected. Also in the news, a string of arsons has been plaguing the market. The latest to be hit was the new Community Center. It was almost completed, when the vandals broke in late one night. Two community volunteers were discovered tied up nearby. Significant damage was done to the property, and anything that seemed valuable was stolen. After leaving, the vandals set three fires, which did extensive structural damage before the Mayor’s firefighting team could extinguish the blaze. No suspects have been named, and Harlan Dobey, of the Mayor’s office, has offered a significant reward for any news of this terrible act. The Meurlain announced the completion of an orchid garden in Konjito, dedicated to peace. Visitors will be welcome during normal business hours. The garden is enclosed in glass, and also has an attached aviary, and a day care. All will be welcome for a small donation, and are invited to stroll along the long paths, tour the circle of thorns, and […]

Special Report, trade ties cut
EGarticle

Elder’s Grove is severing trade ties with the Library. Over the last few months, several plots have been discovered involving Imperials, and local officials from all four districts have clamored for something to be done. Mayor Green finally bowed to public pressure, and has declared an embargo on all traffic to and from the Library. At a press conference, he once again expressed regret that things have come to this point. However, secret incontrovertible evidence has revealed that the Library is home to an Imperial conspiracy, which threatens the Kshathrans of Downings, and the free settlement of Elder’s Grove. The 3 rivers road has been declared closed to all non-essential traffic, and convoys have been asked to cease operating on the road, “until the security situation improves”. Sanctions have been announced against the Library, and Brax Sunder was singled out for “sponsoring terrorist activity”. Citizens have been asked to avoid contact with Imperials from the Library, even indirectly. Monitors will be sent through the Market to ensure that goods and services of the library are not being traded, “while we get everything figured out.” Mayor Green thanked all of Elder’s Grove for their patience in this trying time, and for their forbearance over the next few weeks, as EG loyalists work to “contain the current situation.” *editor’s note – this article previously used the background image for the Library. The image has been corrected.

Troubles with Spores and Vines
EGarticle

News today about the continuing disputes between two clans of the Yazata. The Spores have announced they are resuming genetic testing on important members of their party. “It is vital to know that no more incidents will be occurring, where genetically incompatible citizens are allowed into positions of trust.” This refers to the story of Philo Milantha aka Philo Junaina, a Weed who presented himself as a Spore, and then became a key leader within the party. For those less familiar with Yazata politics, there are three clans of Yazata, from different geographical regions. They are also political parties which compete for votes. The Weeds fell out of favor on Eclipse, and many have quietly joined the other two parties. Philo was found in a compromising position with ambassadors and assistants from three other unnamed settlements, at the same time. The increased attention brought to light certain questionable financial decisions, and genetic testing revealed that he was actually a Weed. Outbreaks of fighting between Yazata of the 2 parties continued into their fourth day, and an anti-Weed rally has been announced. Members of both parties denounced the violence, saying that disputes should be settled properly, and without threat. Still, at least four Yazata have been killed so far, and things only seem to be growing tenser. This is Ren ti Jian reporting from Elder’s Grove.

Influential Meurlain Leader Dies of Natural Causes
EGarticle

Meurlain leader Witness Ru died this past weekend of natural causes. She is reported to have died quietly in her sleep of a brain aneurysm. The Meurlain community in Elder’s Grove, in keeping with their traditions, held a quiet ritual during which her cremated ashes were spread about the gardens in Konjito Monastery to rejoin her to Shiak’tian. Afterwards, the Monastery hosted a modest feast in her honor for all of Elder’s Grove. She was well known throughout the planet as an emissary of peace. Small demonstrations were also held in her honor in Morgan’s Landing and White Falls. The Meurlain have refused all questions of who will take up the responsibilities of this eminent figure at this time. Ashi Ru Arashi was born on Patala, and was the oldest of six siblings. Genetic testing revealed an extraordinary potential, and she was well educated and trained at the Kangso monastery in Anju province. Known as a gifted planner, her preparations were key for the survival of Elder’s Grove during the Machine War. Konjito, and the world, have lost a vital leader.

EGarticle

EG_Downings

A press conference was held today by Tom Rokos of Downings, announcing a new trade agreement between Downings and Elder’s Grove. “We look forward to closer economic ties between ourselves and Elder’s Grove, aligning two economic powerhouses of Eclipse. Winter Storm Warning
MUblizzard

A weather system forming off the coast of Mu is expected to bring blizzard conditions to Iron Town and the surrounding settlements. All of the Mu based settlements are in the path of the storm, which is expected to be at its fiercest between 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday, ENN meteorologist Dan Haven (ML) said. The complicated storm system “will raise havoc” this week, dumping a foot of snow and spreading subzero wind chills across parts of the region. On top of the bone-chilling cold, much of the settlement area will be under the threat of blizzard conditions from Thursday night to Friday afternoon. The Elder’s Grove Emergency Weather Group released a statement saying, “Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel.”
